Our recent 2 night stay at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa was just what we needed! We wanted to squeeze in one last trip with just Humphrey and Pota before we welcome our baby in a few months, and this was the perfect getaway to relax and reflect on all the wonderful memories as a family of 4.
While this gorgeous 5-star resort is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Sonoma and surrounded by world-renowned wineries, once you enter the beautiful driveway and inside the resort, it immediately feels like a peaceful escape.
We stayed at their spacious Mission Spa Suite, which was on ground floor and included a private patio, both things that are so convenient when you have dogs with you! The open floor plan felt very spacious, and the oversized Jacuzzi tub was definitely the highlight!
Dogs are always welcome at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Included with the pet fee are special amenities for your fur-babies, such as bowls and a pet bed in the room. We also received a welcome gift which included a ball, plush toy, and a handmade dog treat. Pota absolutely loved the plush bone toy (even as I write this blog post back home, she is currently playing with this toy that we are keeping as a souvenir!)
Dog-friendly touches extend beyond the in-room amenities. All throughout the property are pet waste stations with stocked poop bags which was a thoughtful touch. Complimentary biodegradable pet waste pick up bags are also available at the Front Desk.
The pups were welcome to join us while we dined at the outdoor seating area of the hotel's Santé restaurant. We absolutely loved the food at this restaurant (we ate here twice during our 2 night stay), and our family rule is that we never leave the pups unattended in the hotel room when we travel, so we really appreciated that the restaurant was accommodating of our dogs so they could be with us at all times.
The hotel offers a number of activities such as daily complimentary wine tasting in the hotel's lobby, a beautiful, cozy, inviting space to hang out. As we stayed during the holiday season, the lobby was decorated with Christmas trees, had lots of board games.
Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is located atop an ancient thermal mineral spring, and there are 5 geothermal mineral pools ranging from 85 to 102 degrees here. The pool is not to be missed!
Each night we enjoyed the wood-burning fireplace in our room to wind down, and the pups loved falling asleep in front of the fire. The wood can be restocked daily so make sure you ask for it if you want to use the wood-burning fireplace every night!
All in all, our stay at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa was thoroughly enjoyable, and everything from check in to check out was a positive experience. We will definitely be back with the pups, next time with a new family member in tow!
