Recipe: Dehydrated Turmeric Fish Roll-Up Treats

Have you considered making your own treats for your dog, only to find recipes that are difficult to follow and overwhelming? Enter food dehydrators (some great options here and here). Dehydrated treats are relatively simple to make, and not only are they easier to store, they potentially last longer as well. Considering the fact that most food dehydrators are quite affordable, you will end up saving a lot of money in the long run this way. And of course the biggest benefit to making your own dehydrated treats is that you know exactly what goes in to your pup's treats.

Luna (@lunamoontheloon) is a beautiful pup who was adopted by her loving "HooMom" in Singapore. Aside from sharing gorgeous photos of Luna, she shares some amazing recipes for dehydrated dog treats. We had to ask her to share one of her favorites with us.

Feel free to try out this recipe, and share with us how it turns out!

TURMERIC FISH ROLL-UPS
Ingredients:
Salmon Fish Skin – cut into strips
Turmeric Powder
Dried Parsley
Coconut Oil
Cracked Black Pepper
Steps:
1. Mix all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Let it marinate for 30-60 minutes in the fridge.

2. Twist fish skin strips into a long roll or curled into a circular roll.

3. Position the rolls on to dehydrator trays and ensure sufficient space between each for air to circulate.
4. Set dehydrator to 70 degree celsius and let it do its magic for 72 hours.

Tips:
  • Turmeric stains everything. So put on gloves and line your work surfaces if you do not want yellow stains for days.
  • Line your dehydrator trays with baking paper will make clean up a lot simpler and quicker.
  • Always store your dehydrated treats in airtight containers.
  • Fish has a higher probability of turning rancid in humid tropical climates. So store them in the fridge or freezer to prolong shelf life.
